Good and Bad Measures

چکیده
We point out that the commonly known properties of continuous measures such as the symmetry of the A 1 condition, its equivalence to the reverse HH older inequality, the left-openness of the A p condition etc., are no longer necessarily true when the underlying measure is allowed to have atoms. We call the measures that preserve these properties good measures. We investigate the class of good measures and we present various criteria for a measure to belong to this class.

Competition in Healthcare: Good, Bad or Ugly?
The role of competition in healthcare is much debated. Despite a wealth of international experience in relation to competition, evidence is mixed and contested and the debate about the potential role for competition is often polarised. This paper considers briefly some of the reasons for this, focusing on what is meant by “competition in healthcare” and why it is more valuable to think about th...
متن کاملThe sorting paired features task: a measure of association strengths.
The sorting paired features (SPF) task measures four associations in a single response block. Using four response options (e.g., good-Republicans, bad-Republicans, good-Democrats, and bad-Democrats), each trial requires participants to categorize two stimuli at once to a category pair (e.g., wonderful-Clinton to good-Democrats). Unlike other association measures, the SPF requires simultaneous c...
متن کاملPerfectionism: The Good, the Bad, and the Creative
The influence of adaptive and maladaptive perfectionism on creativity was examined. Initially, six measures of creativity were administered, including creative self-perceptions, behavior, and performance measures. Adaptive perfectionism was weakly positively related to creativity, whereas maladaptive perfectionism was unrelated to creativity across five of the six measures. A follow-up study as...
متن کاملMeasuring Conceptual Similarity in Ontologies: How Bad is a Cheap Measure?
Several attempts have been made to develop similarity measures for ontologies. Motivated by finding problems in existing measures, we design a new family of measures to address these problems. We carry out an empirical study to explore how good the new measures are and to investigate how likely it is to encounter specific task-oriented problems when using a bad similarity measure.
متن کاملRunning head: FAKING GOOD & FAKING BAD Faking good and faking bad among military conscripts
A question that continues to worry practitioners and researchers is how much recruiters can trust self-reported measures of personality. Several models of faking assume that applicants differ in their motivation to fake, but field evidence regarding these differences is still rare. For the current field study, we exploited a unique setting: The examination for compulsory military service in Swi...
